TMJ

We have a new addition to the Violet family! Introducing Taylor Moseley Jewelry!! Allison Taylor's design sensibility is feminine, delicate, clean & utterly wearable, whether you've got jeans & a tee on or heading to a black tie event. We promise: they will become staples in your jewelry line-up.
We met Allison the day she came into the store. She and her fiance/business partner are living in an RV for a year and touring a part of the US while building up their business. How fantastic does that sound? You can check out their website to follow their blog and see what they are up to:

Beauty and Brains

Here at Violet, not only do we love all things style-y & fashionable, we are also big readers. (Nothing says sexy like a big dose of brains!) So we were thrilled to get our hands on some classics with new faces and coffee table books to swoon over. We foresee heartbreak as these treasures head off to new homes...

My French Life; French Essence

Tess of the D'Urbervilles; Pride and Prejudice; Cranford; Treasure Island; The Sartorialist

Tie one on

In honor of the delivery of scarves we received today, I thought I would scrounge up a few scarf tying demonstrations that will help those of you that are still struggling with how to wear all the new scarves you have collected thus far this winter season.

I love her idea of a "half bow & a brooch":

While the 1st two in this demo are fairly straight forward, I liked her 3rd tie:

You've seen us layer scarves here in the store. This demonstration has another fun multi-scarf idea:

I hope this was helpful! This exercise was definitely fun for me & gave me a few new ideas, too. If you have a great idea you'd like to share, contact me at the store & let's put your video to good use!

Buy Local!

As a small business owner, I find it reassuring that organizations like the Mile High Business Alliance even exist. The purpose of this non-profit? To promote a healthy local economy through locally-owned businesses just like mine. Did you know that money spent at local businesses circulates in our community 3 times more?
The past 4 years they have celebrated Buy Local Week around the holidays and this year's is bigger & better than ever!
Buy Local Week is November 26th- December 3rd!!
We have the holiday shopping guides & buy local BINGO cards here at the store, but for full details, check out http://www.ColoradoLocalFirst.com.
Where you shop does matter!

Falling Whistles

As some of you may remember, back in August, I was in Vegas helping Lindsay Bloom out in her booth at Project. While I was there, I came across a company called Falling Whistles. The proceeds created by the sale of these whistles goes to rehabilitate and advocate for war-affected children in Congo. After hearing the story, I was compelled to order them for the store. I mean, how can you not? Fashion with a cause? It's a no-brainer. Especially when they make awesome necklaces.

Check out http://www.fallingwhistles.com/ for a wonderful and moving introduction to the company. Then take a few minutes and watch this video called Peace is the New Frontier. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4TnLo5aiSnI

Give a meaningful gift. To yourself, your loved ones, and the children of Congo.
